International Codes adopted earlier this year. |

Our voices count.
I am asking each of you to submit one of the sample letters
displayed here. You can
edit it before you print and send it.
Or you can express yourself entirely in your own words.
But please submit your support to Commissioner Newman. |
| You may want to view (and print / save) a PDF of the current Survey Results listing IFC adoptions by Tennessee jurisdictions. |

Re: Support for Proposed Rule to adopt the International Fire Code Dear Commissioner Newman: I am writing to voice my support for adoption of the 2006 Edition of the International Fire Code (IFC) to apply to new construction for the safety and welfare of all Tennesseans, including our citizens, our visitors and our emergency responders. I believe the NFPA 101 should only apply to existing buildings. Thank you for your leadership. Sincerely,

Dear
Commissioner Newman: I
just wanted to take a moment to thank you for proposing the adoption
of the International Fire Code (IFC) for new construction.
Adopted together, the International Fire Code and
International Building Code represent a compatible set of public
safety codes that are absolutely consistent with one another and
represent the best in contemporary thought for the protection of our
citizens and emergency responders in the built environment.
The old, NFPA 101 should be limited to existing buildings. |

Dear Commissioner Newman: I
am a plumbing inspector with the City of _____________.
I am writing to voice my support for the proposed adoption of
the International Fire Code for new construction in Tennessee, a
model fire code document which is fully consistent with the state
adopted International Plumbing Code, International Building Code and
International Mechanical Code. Inconsistency is the enemy of code enforcement.
Adoption of the International Fire Code will go a long way in
reducing conflicts and inconsistencies among the adopted codes in
the State of Tennessee.
The NFPA 101 should only apply to existing buildings. |
